Alumna serves as Framingham State University’s president Profiles Teaching & Curriculum Share Nancy Peckham Niemi ’84, ’01W (PhD) was named the eighth president of Framingham State University. Niemi, who previously served as the provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, began her tenure as president on July 1, 2022.Niemi holds a doctorate in teaching and curriculum from the Warner School of Education and Human Development and a bachelor's in English literature from the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ. Her commitment to educational and social equity is evidenced in her work with universities across the country and in her research and publications throughout her career. Prior to her position at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, she was the inaugural Director of Faculty Teaching Initiatives at Yale University's Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning.Founded in 1839 as the nation’s first public university for the education of teachers, Framingham State University is a liberal arts university in Massachusetts with more than 6,500 students.
